Masternaut extends real-time services to Kinetics Group

Masternaut has won a major contract to supply additional GPRS PDA-based solutions and its satellite tracking service to leading gas and electrical maintenance company Kinetics Group. The maintenance specialist is already using the Masternaut supplied Three X mobile engineer solution deployed on 120 PDAs for its team of gas service engineers. The additional 80 PDAs will be used by Kinetics Group's Electrical and Installations divisions. Masternaut will also supply its innovative web-based satellite-tracking service for the company's fleet of 200 vehicles.

The Masternaut vehicle tracking service will not only assist with precise location of mobile engineers it will also help distinguish work and personal mileage. By viewing the fleet on a large plasma screen, the management team will have real-time information about each engineer. This will also enable Clenmay to react quickly to emergency calls by sending the nearest available engineer to fix the problem.

Real-time information is essential to the company as Graham Allman-Talbot, Business Administration Director, Kinetics Group, explains: "Our social-housing clients require that we act on and provide real-time information. By using the PDA solution, and with the imminent implementation of the Masternaut satellite tracking service, we are serving their needs and also boosting the efficiency and productivity of our team of engineers."

Clenmay's management system sends scheduled jobs to the engineers' PDAs at 6.30 am each morning. When a client reports a fault to the company's Call Centre, the operator locates the nearest engineer and the job is also sent to his or her PDA immediately. Engineers also use the PDAs to order spares directly from Wolseley Parts Centre, which also helps expedite the repair work.

Kinetics Group's PDAs have replaced traditional paper based records and removed the mountain of filing and the associated administration costs. Instead, the engineer records the details of the work performed directly onto the PDA and the job is signed off on the hand held screen by both the customer and the engineer. This is then transmitted back to headquarters, automatically updating the customer records held on the management system. Kinetics Group stores Landlord Records digitally and these can be printed if the client requires a copy.

Kinetics Group looks after over 60,000 properties across the private and social housing sectors. The company has contracts with several local authorities including Portsmouth City Council, Fareham Borough Council, and Gosport Borough Council, as well as serving many housing associations.
