Masternaut supports Dragon's Den winners Igloo

Igloo
30 April, 2007

Leeds, UK, 30 April 2007 - Igloo Thermo-Logistics, specialist service providers for the food and pharmaceutical industries and successful participants in the BBC Two hit series Dragon’s Den, has invested in a sophisticated web-based vehicle management system from Masternaut. Using advanced satellite tracking, exacting temperature-monitoring equipment and high-speed communications Masternaut live monitors the precise temperature and location of every individual consignment from collection to delivery giving Igloo round the clock, real time visibility of their time and temperature critical mobile operation.

“Our aim is to be the best,” said Anthony Coates-Smith, Managing Director of Igloo Thermo-Logistics Ltd. “We provide high quality temperature controlled transportation services and we have built an enviable reputation for reliability, professionalism, quality and above all service. By selecting the best solutions in the market, such as Masternaut, to underpin our own best of breed attitude we will continue to achieve our goal.”

Anthony Coates-Smith recently appeared, with business partner and co-founder Alistair Turner, on the BBC Two business programme for nascent entrepreneurs Dragon’s Den. After receiving offer and counter offer from all five Dragons the pair eventually accepted a joint investment of £160,000 from Glaswegian entrepreneur Duncan Bannatyne OBE and Australian multi-millionaire Richard Farleigh in return for a 22.5 percent stake in the business.

“Since appearing on Dragon’s Den we have opened a new chilled storage and distribution facility in Leeds and we are planning to open a third site later this year,” said Coates-Smith. “This development is due in part to the investment received, which by the way Duncan Bannatyne has been quoted as saying ‘is the best I ever made’, and in part to the recent award of large contract by Leeds City Council. Our successful tender was based on our proven track record for temperature-controlled transportation supported by our investment in the Masternaut solution.”

Igloo specialises in providing single or multi-temperature transportation services to the food and pharmaceutical industries including multi-temperature secure storage facilities, dedicated distribution service and same-day emergency guarantee. With an ever-expanding customer base the company has a growing fleet of vehicles ranging from a refrigerated Smart Car, small, medium, large and box vans through to 7.5 tonne trucks with payload capacities of 2700kg.

Igloo undertook a six month live field trial of the Masternaut solution, putting the service and technology head to head with other suppliers. “Masternaut, like Igloo, outshone the competition,” continued Coates-Smith, “and it continues to do so. On a daily basis Masternaut saves us money and saves our reputation.” The Masternaut vehicle management solution combines satellite tracking and temperature monitoring with high speed mobile communications proving real time location and load temperature data, including customised data alerts, via any web enabled PC or handheld device.
