Ernst & Young EOYA
13 October, 2008

Leeds, UK, 13 October 2008 – Martin Port, Managing Director of Masternaut Three X the UK’s fastest growing vehicle telematics company, has represented the industry at one of the country’s most prestigious business awards. Port, who had already been named Ernst & Young Northern Entrepreneur for Technology and Communications was one of just 40 finalists selected from a field of 236 business leaders who attended the event hosted by Joanna Lumley at Grosvenor House, London. Port narrowly missed out on the National award for Science and Technology, which was presented to Keith Nielson of Craneware Plc.

“Working with entrepreneurial business leaders, such as Martin, is exciting, challenging and extremely rewarding. Ernst & Young is proud to recognise the UK’s most innovative and talented business people through the Entrepreneur of the Year awards programme,” commented Richard Hall, Ernst  & Young Entrepreneur of the Year UK Leader.

The Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year awards programme is the business equivalent of the OSCARs, recognising entrepreneurial spirit, innovation, leadership and vision. The first and only truly global award of it’s kind the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year programme celebrates those who are building and leading successful, growing and dynamic businesses, recognizing them through regional, national and global awards programs in more than 135 cities in 50 countries.  Entries are judged by other entrepreneurs, previous award winners and business leaders with a strict selection criteria and interview process.

2008 celebrates the tenth anniversary of the competition in the UK during which time the achievements of some of our most well known entrepreneurs have been recognised. Previous winners include Sir Stelios Haji-Iannou of EasyGroup, Peter Jones and Simon Woodroffe, perhaps better known for their roles in the BBC hit series Dragons Den, and Northern regional finalist and overall winner in 2005 Martin Penny of Jemella Group, the company behind the hair care phenomenon ghd.

“It was an honour to represent the telematics industry at this prestigious national event,” said Martin Port. “Being given the opportunity to be part of this global business programme is recognition of the hard work, dedication and innovation of the entire Masternaut Three X team.”
