Masternaut GPS satellite service gives 25% productivity gains for ASC service engineers

Maintenance services company ASC has started using a new Internet-linked satellite location service from Masternaut. The service includes daily e-mail reports with a 24-hour time log showing arrival and departure time from sites. Combining GPS satellite positioning and mobile phone data communication, Masternaut is helping improve lone-worker safety and customer service, as well as boosting productivity by up to 25%.

ASC, who are based in Chester, are one of the primary maintenance contractors in the North West and Wales region. The company provides a one-stop fast response service with specially-trained engineers and a fleet of 30 vehicles. Services include electrical installation, inspection and maintenance, plumbing and heating, gas maintenance and testing, as well as general building works and maintenance.

With Masternaut, ASC can see, in real time, the location of any of their vehicles by simply dialling up the Masternaut Website (www. Masternaut.co.uk). The data is logged to provide a completely automated record of the actual time on site and travelling for any equipped vehicle, 24 hours a day.

ASC believe the main benefits come from the daily call log reports sent by Masternaut. “The activity reports are proving invaluable” says Kevin Hughes, ASC General Manager. “Masternaut provides invisible clocking in and out. For our engineers, they now have a completely self monitoring system that enables more flexible working practices such as returning home from site without needing to call in”.

ASC are partnering with a local housing trust and carry out work for several letting agency’s and also many private customers. The service provides important data on service delivery. “Masternaut immediately verifies job sheets so we can provide genuine evidence of response times and time on site. It is becoming a really useful management tool for both controlling operations and enhancing customer service” says Kevin Hughes.
